18 Oct Ibiza on two wheels: Routes on bicycle
Ibiza has different tourist options where families, clubbers, couples, millionaires, hippies, naturists, etc. live together. There are those who rent cars or motorcycles, some hitchhike, those who do not leave their area, those who go by boat or huge yatchs, or those who catch pirate taxis. In short, this beautiful island hosts different profiles each year with different interests and we have to be prepared to offer the best services for everyone.
Today we want to talk about two-wheeled transport, the routes that exist for bicycles where you can access to hidden places far from the crowds, and enjoy the wind in your skin and the beautiful landscapes in a much more sustainable and healthy way.
Ibiza on Bike, how, when and where.
Although Ibiza is not territorially very extensive, in its near 40km of land there are different routes in stages to discover the island according to your experience and physical capacity for pedaling. In the Ibizan basin there are no extreme slopes, but there are gentle hills and several mountain passes that you will have to overcome and be prepared for them.
Due to the high temperatures of the summer, we recommend taking advantage of the spring and autumn seasons to carry out this type of activities. We will also benefit from less traffic on the roads, which translates into safer routes.
We also have several trails and paths correctly marked especially for cyclists, so you can move safely and encourage the little ones to accompany you on this trip.

Within all the tours that you can do in Ibiza, we propose these routes published in Wikilok by experts of bike touring where they explain to you mileage, significant sections, difficulty … etc. And it is accompanied by an ample photographic report so that you see the reward of the beauty of the way.
We have made a selection of the routes that we have liked, from less to greater difficulty.
30.01 kilometers – Easy
Nice route in which we cross Ses Salines, a protected natural park with constant views to Formentera. In some stretches and due to the terrain (dunes and boulders) we have to push the bike.
Ibiza- Sa Capella- Cova Santa- Forada-Ibiza
40.9 kilometers – Moderate
Moderate difficulty course with hard and difficult stretches, but anyone who is more or less trained can do it well. We will ride on paved roads and enjoy the landscapes of the vineyards of Sa Forada.
Ibiza – Can Furnet – Sant Llorenç – Sant Miquel – Santa Gertrudis – Ibiza
48.6 kilometers – Moderate
On this route alternate roads, paths and asphalted sections, where we will find two strong hills. The first in the area of Can Furnet is short but also intense. The second, shortly before reaching San Lorenzo, is 10 kms of continuous ascent until San Miguel. Once in San Miguel, and, facing the return, enjoy a quick overview combined with thrilling descents.
Ibiza – Dalt Vila – Ses Salines
32.65 Kilometers – Moderate
A beautiful route with stunning views and a lot of visual appeal, visiting the natural park of Ses Salines and overlooking Formentera. After admiring the breathtaking views from the ramparts of the castle, we begin to descend steep stairs.
Then we will go towards Figueretas, and we begin to edge the south-east coast of the island by the Playa d’en Bossa until the entrance to the park of Ses Salines.
Although this route does not contain large unevenness, its difficulty is due to the length and two quite technical stretches of stone paths. We must also highlight the variety of terrains: tracks, dirt roads, paths, boulders, dunes …
Ibiza – Sta. Gertrudis
41.65 Kilometers – Difficult
Departing from the center of Santa Gertrudis heading for the Santa Eulària river. After rolling through this area between up and down, we cross the channel and enjoy a beautiful landscape. From here we will continue to the Fruitera Canal, leaving behind a small stretch of road and the bike path. The rest of the route runs along paths and paths between woods and fields. We will stop at the Pou d’en Gatzara considered the geographic center of the island and as final broach of the excursion, we will end up discovering beautiful paths surrounded by dense vegetation
176.88 kilometers – Difficult
The itinerary rounds the island of Ibiza, clockwise, starting and ending at the port of Ibiza.
We recommend you to do it in stages and can be divided into several days, and as you pass through Sant Antoni we offer you our hostel to rest.
What did you think of our proposal? Do you want to join the bike touring lovers?
